Professional Background

 

After previously serving 3 terms in the Kansas House of Representatives, Cindy retired from her job in 2016 to run again and win a state legislative seat to put Kansas back on a track of fiscal responsibility and fund public schools. Cindy currently serves as the ranking minority member on the Insurance Committee and is also a member of the Children and Seniors Committee and Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee.

 

Before retirement, Cindy spent most of her career as a Medical Administrator for a Multi-Specialty Group with offices in Wyandotte and Johnson County. She worked for Discover Dental handling sedation patients. She also spent 9 years working for Shawnee Mission schools in various roles while raising her children.

 

Family​

Cindy has been married to Jim, a retired airline pilot and former Shawnee City Councilman, for 50 years.  They have four grown children, all graduates of the Shawnee Mission School District: Samantha, an OB/GYN and wellness doctor living in Lawrence; Jamie a Financial Analyst for Cody Cosmetics living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Kim, an insurance underwriter living in Shawnee and Justin, a restaurateur and BBQ pitmaster living in Shawnee. Cindy has four grandsons she adores and spends her spare time watching their activities, taking them to movies, shopping and to the lake.
